PART 5 OF GLADSTONE MCWHISKERS AND THE LOST CITY OF BEARCELONA...

GLADSTONE MCWHISKERS AND THE LOST CITY OF BEARCELONA... - PART 5

The 5th part of our new internet-exclusive mini-adventure by Paul Chandler, set in Spain and the Islands, which is a sequel to GLADSTONE MCWHISKERS AND THE PHANTOM PIE-CRAWL.

Majorca, Late Autumn.

It wasn't much later that the yacht containing the intrepid explorers docked at Palma Harbour and Gladstone found himself hanging back on board, whilst Charlie (with a little help from Ollie), arranged a car which also allowed for the safe transport of Augustus.

Claud remained with Gladstone and neither spoke for quite some time, except for the occasional, "They're taking ages, aren't they?" sort of comments...

Indeed, they were, but Claud and Glad weren't the only people who were finding the wait unbearable; for Oliver was feeling much the same too...

"Of course it all makes sense now that you think about it; Majorca is one of the Belearic Islands; of course - back in the days of Babok it was known as the Bearcelonan Isle and was one of the Bearic group of Islands..."

Ollie raised and eyebrow; or the nearest that he had to one - he really did suspect Charlie of making half of these stories up!! They had just attached Augustus to a trailer on the back of a little buggy and had pulled away from the harbour into a busy stream of traffic. They looked quite an odd sight, it had to be said and they were getting quite a lot of peculiar stares. It was only when Ollie had decided to ignore this that he realised something else.

"Charlie!? Where are we going!?"

"Don't worry; Augustus knows the way - he's giving me directions - we won't get lost..."

But this wasn't what Ollie meant, at all. "I meant where are we going; because we've left Gladstone and Claud back on the boat.

"Turn left at the traffic lights..." mumbled Charlie to himself; completely oblivious, it would seem, to what Ollie was saying - and no attempt to distract the bear had any effect whatsoever...

Meanwhile, Gladstone and Claud found it hard to fathom what on earth was going wrong - it was made even worse by the fact that the port was so busy; full of sailor cat who seemed to find it very funny to see another feline hanging out with a mouse.

"Cobarde!" taunted one in Spanish and then laughed and added. "El gato cobarde anda con ratones..." which caused all his friends to laugh too.

"What did he say?" Gladstone whispered and Claud pulled an embarrassed face.

"Something about being a coward..." he replied, a little uncertainly. "I think they're suggesting that I'm a bit of a sissy for hanging out with a mouse; but my Spanish isn't perfect..."

Gladstone looked apologetic; sorry that the cat was getting taunted for helping him out - looking around them as they continued to chat. "Where on earth did that bear get to with my louse..." he complained, but just as he did a furry paw landed on his shoulder. "Oh - there you are, Charlie..."

But it wasn't Charlie, at all...

"You must be Gladstone McWhiskers..." said the cub, with the spiky fur, who stood before them. "I've been looking for you too for ages..." he added and then indicated a direction. "Come on..." he continued - urging them to pursue him. "Come with me and I'll take you to your friends..."

Claud looked at Gladstone and Gladstone shrugged; it seemed that there was nothing for it but to follow him...

Next episode Gladstone and Claud learn more about the mysterious cub and Oliver and Charlie head out into the countryside in pursuit of the lost city...

BEHIND THE SCENES OF GLADSTONE MCWHISKERS AND THE LOST CITY OF BEARCELONA...

To conclude the week I present further photos from the beautiful isle of Majorca - and probably one or two with me in; that might spoil things - but that's the price you have to pay...
